Hi, I have been using the phone for the past 2 days and realised that it heats up pretty quickly. It was particularly hot at the top part of the back of the phone, the area where the NFC logo is located. I did several "tests" to see how fast it heats up, and I made sure that the phone was cooled down before each try.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The handset does heat up to quite a temperature during longer 4K recordings.
Even after three minutes of filming I found the top half of the Xperia Z2 became rather toasty, and as I continued the heat increased.
When it got to around 11 minutes of 4K filming the Xperia Z2 crashed, with a pop up of "Unknown error" greeting me on screen.
Rather more frustratingly the huge video file (4.25GB) was saved to the device, but it was corrupt so I couldn't play it. The Xperia Z2 also promptly told me that I'd filled 75% of the internal storage and it was time to stick a memory card in. Or I could just delete that massive corrupt file, hey Z2?
Hopefully these issues can be fixed with a software update, and I hope Sony gets on the case soon.
I do not think that you could do anything with the file if it is corrupt.I would recommend using a micro SDHC card or even SDXC.The process itself is very heavy.
i've used the 4k app for over 4 mins and didnt shut down and syncs correctly if you have that problem i would advice you to factory rest phone about 4 times and repair with pc companion
I tried to factory reset one time and it helped for about 5 minutes. Then the audio were out of sync with the 4K video again. I live in Denmark and the phone has the latest firmware; -(
I bought a expensive SanDisk Extreme microSDXC 64gb card with 80mb/s read and 50mb/s write speed and tried and yeah it lasted longer than the internal memory but still crashed after 6min 29sec so all I can say is that the snapdragon 801 is not powerful enough to record 4k and staying cool enough...
had my z2 for a couple of days and everything was ok until I tried to take a photo and the camera insisted n shutting down.....ok I had been browsing fro 10 mins prior to wanting to take a photo but I was not expecting this sort of response from the phone....think I shall test it tomorrow to see how many pics I can take before it plays up again....hopefully this is not going to be a re-occuring issue.......chose this over the nokia camera phone and wondering if I have made a mistake
