xz2 high temperature

Hi, I have been using the phone for the past 2 days and realised that it heats up pretty quickly. It was particularly hot at the top part of the back of the phone, the area where the NFC logo is located. I did several "tests" to see how fast it heats up, and I made sure that the phone was cooled down before each try.

Firstly, I used the phone for browsing the internet for about 15mins and realised that the temperature(battery) has risen to 43 degrees celsius. Next, I tried using its camera and took several shots and after about 5 minutes of use, the temperature has also risen to 44.2 degrees and the a message was prompted stating something like "the temperature is too high! camera needs to turn off." I then tested the video recording in 4K resolution. The recording lasted for only about 3mins 40secs before the message was prompted, and the recording was not saved. The temperature rose to 44.5 degree celsius.

I understand that the automatic shut off of the camera was to prevent any hardware damage from the high temperature. However 15 mins of browsing and less than 5 minutes of 4k recording does not appear satisfactory from a user's point of view, especially after the device being touted as the best Sony has built. I hope that a software update can help mitigate this issue, as it will be a huge hindrance to the day to day usage if the issue remains. Does anyone else have the same issue?

At last someone is react to this problem, im serious from whole time. THIS PROBLEM DOESNT INCLUDE 4K USAGE. THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENED WHEN USING SUPERIOR AUTO AND MANUAL OR ANY MODE NORMALLY. AND JUST ABOUT 5-10 MINUTE TAKING PICTURE, ITS SAYS IT OVERHEAT AND NEED TO COOOOLING DOOWWWN. !

Are this people in this forum read the whole post clearly using their eyes, i certainly doubt it. 80% who claim this problem is the TAKING PICTURE Limit time due to Heat Problem. NOT SUCH 4K HALF BAKE FEATURE ! Oh Come On !

this camera is useless if you just can OPEN it (let it run, dont take any picture) and working just around 10 Minute and then BOOOMMB ! Shutdown to cooling bla bla bla, What about taking picture ? Just Snap 10 Picture and Booom ! Same Problem !
Im Really pissed off, could sony just recall this device who have this problem ? if Sony want us to back-to-back come to the Service Center Location, **bleep** Off ! Even Service Center Location in my country doesnt know if this a problem. what a shame.

Please, we are actualy a loyal costumer, but we can turn in to such a bad factor to Sony Company if we treated like this.

Sony Mobile Communications would like to provide an update in response to reports from some customers that after specific user behaviour and/or very warm climate conditions the camera application may stop automatically.

Xperia Z2’s advanced camera technology makes high demands on the processor if used for extended periods and is designed to shut down the camera automatically when the chipset reaches a certain operating temperature. Our engineers have identified improvements to optimize performance and reduce the load on the processor which should result in lower operating temperatures, and therefore significant improvements in camera performance. These will be implemented in the next SW release. Customers are recommended to download the upcoming software once it has been made available for download via PC Companion or Over The Air.

I hope that no reduction in quality and performance. just how to reduce the heat for normal and superior auto taking, 4K we dont really care as just it could record about 1 minute, thats enough to burst shot to make a project. the thinks is the proper usage of camera and taking picture are must have stable and smooth, with no lowering the quality. i hope you give the best update software for this. and i really happy to see this problem almost solve. I love sony support to the customer in the real world. not in my country.

Thanks.

A statement on a website, right now its just a future promise.

When these updates come out its usually difficult to tell what was fixed, nothing is given in writing as in we fixed this or that.

usually its hte users that say so and so works better than before.

I Agree with you, this maybe a future promising, but maybe sony desnt want to take this seriously much longer, just want to leave this problem. but what should we do now ? if you think, what Rickard says is the only way to fix this ? i just dont get it. im so confuse to deal with this. but my opinion i trust Rickard say. because i hopeless about this problem
