All photos my wife or myself take in low light levels has a white blurr that appears on the right side after the camera flashes, the image is without this problem until it is taken. Is this a problem with the software or a hardware flaw with the camera/flash proximity to each other and the chrome rim around the lens.this is on both our z1 phones my wife has a white one and I a black one. The red inference on the left side is not common just bad lighting. When I say the right side it would be on the bottom side for portrait photos

I've seen that before with
a protective case
an extra protecting film
fingers too close to the flash
dirty lens
I can't see the picture, upload it to box.com and post the public link here
Also do you have any protective case or protective film around and/or near the camera lens or flash?

In the shared box.com folder there are 3 photos with the issue I am talking about, I would think it is a faulty lens but it is the same on both phones, could there be 2 faulty lenses that I happened to buy, or a software firmware error???
To add I don't have any protective case around the phone. I thought this myself because I was having the same problem and I was using the roxfit cover but have since removed it.
Same problem here +1

I had the similar problems too with my Xperia Z there's light reflection from the flash of the phone on the taken photo too and Xperia Z1 i haven tested yet due send to warranty:smileyworried:....but i don't really know the cause of it because sometimes it doesn't have that problem even using protective case with/without it and sometimes it works fine....it could be the holding position/environment/other causes...still need wait for the who expert in shooting camera/Sony staff to do the real test on it and confirm the problem...
Uliwooly is correct; I have been able to replicate this by taking a photo in poor light normally and then taking another one with my finger overlapping the phone near the flash/lens. With this being the case please rule out the possibilities outlined above by Uliwooly.

I can concur with the previous 2 posts that the issue is not with the phone but with the holding of the phone. I took pictures in low light and the flash reflected off my finger back onto the lens, even though my finger was not in front of the lens, I then took the same picture holding the phone by my finger nails and there was no interference. It just means that now i will have to hold the phone by the edges (slightly uncomfortable with the phone being so thin) Thanks for the input i couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was but discussing it here helped. It seems so trivial now but thanks guys.
I've the same problem.
I've juste bougth the new Z1, and got very disapointed with the grainy photos.
Does, anyone got a feedback from Sony??
Tks
