Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to block an individual number on my Z1? Keep getting spam calls that cost me even though I don't answer and my operator has no idea how to do this. It seems they removed this feature for some reason (used to have it on my xperia arc) and previous 'non' smart phones.
Solved! Go to Solution.
You need to download an app from google play, the phone does not have that option.
Thanks.. 'ive just done that.. was hoping that maybe the feature was there but I was too dumb to find it. Any idea WHY they got rid of this very handy feature (that existed on all previous Sony phones that I owned)?
Already contacted them and awaiting a reply... will share it here if there is anything helpful.
After a lengtthy wait I finally heard back from Sony telling me that this feature does not exist on 'non branded phones' , whatever that means.... and they suggested I download an app.
No mention of why it was not an included feature or if it would be in the future (as it is on EVERY other phone).
thanks for the input
Just found this discussion. Very annoying that it is not available. For info then I have attached a link to the sony z1 userguide section that shows how to block a caller - and from petitcon666's comments it appears this will work for "branded" phones only. How do you spell Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hi, what is the App that you guys are using? I'm also facing the same issue,
Couple of things: The McAfee Security program that comes with the Z1 phone has call/text management features including number blocking. I suspect that Sony is in cahoots with McAfee and that's why number blocking was removed from the phone's Android software (note that McAfee is free for only 30 days, after that they start charging). So - if you have McAfee activated and want to keep it for other reasons, you're done. Just go in to McAfee through Settings and add rhe numbers you want to block.
However: if you don't want to pay McAfee, there's a free security app that's highly rated by CNET and users. It's called AirCover Security. It's in the Play Store. There are dozens, maybe hundreds of apps that do number blocking but most of them are unrated, which doesn't mean they're bad, it just means you'd be taking pot luck. AirCover seems like a safe bet, but I just now installed it so I don't have much of a track record with it. I'd be interested in hearing from other people who may have more experience with AirCover.
