Hello, I have the Z3 c since the end of August, and I have this problem: sometimes (apparently non related to GPS-using apps) the GPS icon appears in the status bar, and will not go away even when turning GPS off. Checking the battery usage does not show any usage by the GPS, so it's just annoying to see the icon all the time. It always resolves by restarting the device.
I've noticed the same problem has been complained with the M4 aqua (http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-8482-M4-Aqua/GPS-icon-always-on-in-top-bar/td-p/1006192).
Any idea how to fix this?

Try booting in safe mode.
Press Lock button until Switch OFF prompt appear > Press and hold POWER OFF untill Safe Mode prompt appears and press OK
You should be in safe mode after reboot(a logo of Safe Mode will appear)
Then use it for a while and check if the GPS icon still appear in safe mode. If the GPS icon disappeared, then app(s) you installed must've been using the GPS. Try uninstalling your recent apps since end of August.
If it still appear, try performing a Software Repair by using PC Companion.
To exit safe mode, just restart your phone normally.

I've found that "My EE" app from EE UK operator is triggering this problem.
When I open the app it turns GPS on, and when closing the app, GPS icon stays on (though not using battery according to power management check). the only way to get rid of the icon is restarting every time.
Do you know how to prevent an app from using GPS? maybe this would solve the issue, given it is not necessary for this app.
Thanks!
