My Z3 plays about three quarters of a video, then stops and says ;Cannot play video. Invalid URL. whats url got to do with a prerecorded video. This happens with the built in player and also vlc player.

I've solved the problem. I removed the SD caed and copied movies directly to the phone. They all play now.

So the SD caed must have been faulty.

How did you transferred the video files? you could use Media Go or PCC to make sure you have the correct format, also check if you transfer them to the internal storage.

I transferred them by right clicking the folder on my computer via the cable supplied with the phone. I tried convering them to experia mp4 format using any 'video converter ultimate'. They are all on the SD card.

Used Media Go today. four out of five videos  work okay. Perhaps it's something to do with the downloaded format.. THe that packs up halfway  file says: Type: Windows media player. I downloaded it from the web.

@maurellis

That's most likely the issue, you can use formatfactory on your PC
