I bought the Z1 Compact because the battery life was amazing. At the end of a day (about 7pm) I would still have over 60% battery life. Since upgrading to Android 5 my phone is worse than an iPhone, I am down to about 30% by 5pm. I have pressed the orange button by the sim, I have enabled every power saving option going apart from the ones that completely castrate the phone and there is no improvement. Not only that but it seems to only run 1 core of the CPU making it completley sluggish and frequently non responsive. Android 5 an upgrade? No way it is 10 steps backward. Please provide detailed and accurate instructions to allow me to revert to 4.4.4.

Hey guys,
I updated my phone through OTA to lollipop and I'm currently on the latest build (. 270). I have been having this problem of extreme battery drainage since the lollipop update and the last update didn't really make it any better.
So once the battery reaches 40%, the phone starts to heat up and the battery drops to 15% and then 0% in a matter of minutes. This happens even if the phone is idle and is not being used. I just keep the phone on the table with no apps running and still it gets very hot and switches off.
Is anybody else experiencing this?

Since I upgraded to lollipop my battery has every now and then started to appaer to rapidly drain from around 50%, especially when using something on mobile data for example I was using the satnav for about 15 minutes and the battery was on 62% when I started to use it but then it powered off 15 minutes later. When I got home and put it on charge I waited about 5 minutes before turning it on and it was already at around 50%. Something similar happened the other day when I was out and tried to turn it back on as it was still high battery and I had no warnings and so I thought it had crashed, but when I switched it back on it said 1% however, about 2 hours later I tried to turn it on again and it came back on, working, at around 50%. I don't remember this happening when I first upgraded to lollipop but moreso after the upgraded after that. Is this a common bug that will be fixed or will I have to look at resetting my phone/ taking it to be repaired?
Hi there
I experience similar problems after Lollipop-update!
I made an OTA-uddate at first and noticed a quicker drain than with 4.4.2, and on top of that, when the phone reached a batterylevel of around 50% It just died without a notice with no warnings whatsoever!!! My setup and app-installation is exactly the same as on 4.4.2. and nothing helps, it dies at around 50%, promtly!
Of course I initially thought bad flash or something, I then downloaded and installed PCC and the Lollipop-firmware, and flashed again!! But to no awail, It keeps dying on me at around 50% witout a notice, and that is simply not good enough Sony????
Has anyone in this forum with this issue, heard any official Sony-comments on this problem???
Also When I made the second Sony PCC flash ( I also did this on the first OTA flash) I firstly made a factoryreset which should reset the phone and erase everything, but that doesn´t seem to be the case??? I forgot to make a backup of data in one of my apps, but after factoryreset and a new flash and after reinstalling the app, all the data was suddenly in the app, without restoring the app-data! As I mentioned, I forgot to backup the data within the app!
That suggests to me that the phone is actually not fully erased, when it is supposed to be, whats with that????
I really hope Sony is making a huge effort to correct these issues, as that is really not good enough, for one of the large compagnies that people trust, and pay relatively bigger money for Sony-phones than some others!!!

Good morning, I have serious problems with my Z1 compact.
1) The phone dialer does not disable the touch when I bring my phone to his ear. I did the hard reset with PC Companion. This happens since I updated to Lollipop. I also checked if it works by testing the proximity sensor and works well. I noticed that the dialer is very slow in operation, while slow in starting a call.
2) abnormal battery consumption with Google Play Service (we are 25/30%).
Tips or bugfixes?
Thank you.
Edit:
I forgot, 14.5.A.0.270
My software updated last Wednesday my phone hasn't worked properly since over heating battery not lasting cannot use camera or get into my albums. Also keeps freezing and switching itself off. Any ideas when these problems will b sorted thanks
Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
