Will not receive push when App is closed

I have a problem with push notifications.

If I start the app and put it into background, then it will receive a push and pop up. So someting is working.

But if I kill it, then nothing happens when the push is send.

Im using an Xperia XZ Premium (G8141) running Android 8.0.0

My daugthers Xperia Ultra Z running android 5 does the same.

I have tried a lot of tricks

• Disabled stamina
• Made a battery exception
• Enabled priority notifications
• It has unlimited dataacces as well as beeing allowed in background.

I have ran out of ideas to solve this.

Are you talking about a specific app or you have all your apps (like WhatsApp and Facebook) doing this?

It is an App which is not public Yet.

But I do not receive push on facebook either, which I do not want anyway. 

Neither Messenger or Viber, which means that I sometimes get messages late on these.

Troubleshooting an unreleased app will be tricky because the app itself might not be coded correctly to work in the background.

Do you use any power management apps (like Greenify) or memory management apps?

No power management is installed, and Stamina disabled.

The battery management to reduce charging time above 90% is enabled (cannot remember what it is called in english)

Found an explanation. I did a force stop, and not a simple swipe out from the overview.
