Some questions:

  1. Which exact model do you have? There are five generations of VGN-Z and three generations of VPCZ Series models, some of which have different chipsets.
  2. Which driver version and source (originally installed, an official update or some in-official source) are you using?
  3. Which operating system are you using? Preinstalled or your own?

At your own risk, you may wish to try the nVidia driver supplied with the VPC-Z13Z9E/X which has the same GPU as your VPC-Z12Z9E/X.

The Z13 has Version 8.16.11.9024 and may be worth a try?  It should be installed in SPEED Mode and the download will need to be Extracted to show the Setup.exe.

Sony support do not applaud the VPCZ13 driver.

They recomend to have the computer sendt back, for a full reload of factory software.

The first reload was in May and make no change, the driver still crashes.
