hi!
i already posted my topic in the german forum but there seems nobody could help me there.
i got the following issue:
my vaio tt on vista had before i brought it to the repair service an automatic dimming function, which made my screen darker when the laptop was unused on battery mode (so no input via mouse or any other input device). after the repair (power board and screen renewed), it seems as if the setting was altered. i don't mean the feature of screen brightness on battery mode as shown on vaio control center.
how can i get this feature back as i let my laptop quite often just running on conferences?
thanks for any help,
Paul

hi!
Thanks for that advice.
I didn't mean the setting to lower the display screen when the power plug is off, i meant the "dim screen when laptop is idle in battery mode" setting. vaio-link has no advice for me... can anyone help me please? thank you
Hi Paul,
If by "dim screen when laptop is idle in battery mode" you mean ‘turn off the display’ when the notebook is idle for a set period of time, then the required settings are still under Vaio Control Center -> Power Management -> Power Options -> Advanced tab -> Chose when to turn off display (in the right hand pane).
Hi,
This post is a little old, but it's worth updating as I was just searching for the same thing ... and found a solution. I think Paul was referring to SmartDimmer, which is an Nvidia function that dims the screen when the computer has been inactive on battery power. I have an FE31Z with an Nvidia card and to adjust it I go to Start > Control Panel > Nvidia Control Panel > Mobile > Configure SmartDimmer.
