SD Missing after update...

I finally gave in and updated the phone because the shutdowns and restarts were getting ridiculous but now cant find / or access memory card no matter how many times i restart my phone or take the card out however the card itself is fine and works as i can put it directly in laptop and access my stuff on there.

Any advice plz as am finding all these updates ridiculous and seem to have more problems with my phone with each new update i cant wait for my contract upgrade an may just buy a new phone at this rate.

the sd card is fine never had a problem until the upgrade and once upgraded i have been able to restore my back up with no problems as for doing it via the flash tool what file would i use to do that since the files i have are for the downgrade and the only other file is the seus you sent me, and since pc companion cant be used without the sd card being in the phone i am fresh out of options

I suppose you will have to try the other option

pick and choose Dizzy_Face

X10a_3.0.1.G.0.75_AMERICA-US GENERIC 1233-8200.zip (140.5 MB)

yes it is for the X10a, it WON'T affect your 3G/H connection at all, you can quote me on that

8.33 and several updates later and still no sd card showing up since i have no sd card i the other stuff of how to restore is a waste as the phone has no memory card to put apps on to retrieve data on it....contacted SE and they claim this problem has not been reported to them yet its all over the boards so I am not one in a million but one of many so i will just revert to a previous version which they said wasnt possible for me to do....erm I dont understand but hey go figure since i dnt understand why my phone needs repairing since no sd card shows up so i guess they are plaing on repairing all the phones on this board where people have experiance the same issues....oh yea I forgot...they say its not been reported and as this is a discussion board people just write anything ....I also think she fails to understand that the sd card WAS there before the update and shows up when the previous software is put back on the phone...

Hayley:  Hi Adele, thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson UK Chat Support. My name is Hayley, how can I help you today?

adele:  well i have been at this over 12 hours and have had enough

adele:  i gave in and updated the phone yesterday since i wasnt impressed with the previous update and after having problems with my phone since putting it on

adele:  but since the phone's constant rebooting or suddenly switching off when the battery appears to be full was becoming problematic i used pc companion to put on the new update

adele:  the update appeared to be fine however the sd card was missing and can not be found

adele:  i have spent all evening on the discussion board trying to find ways around this and have even used the update service and the flash tool to try the update

adele:  the only time my sd card shows up is when i flash the phone back to the previous update

Hayley:  You can't flash your phone to previous firmware versions, you can only update or reload the software.

Hayley:  If you have already tried this and it still isn't working properly, it sounds like your handset may need to be sent for repair.

adele:  well i have used a tool and obtained the previous version of software that was on it before i updated the phone so what would you call that?

adele:  why would the handset require to be sent for repair when the sd card shows up and always has with the previous versions but not with the new one

adele:  and it appears i am not the only person who has had this problem with your update

adele:  http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/28934?tstart=0

Hayley:  Because if you have tried the update and that hasn't resolved it there isn't anything else we can suggest, therefore it would need to be sent for repair. We do not provide any software which rolls back your phone version so what you have used is likely to be unaothorised software.

adele:  that is the dialogue from my thread and the help i have received in restoring it back to its previous state

adele:  so are you repairing everyones phone who no longer has an sd card showing after your update?

adele:  and whats the cost to me?

Hayley:  As I said we do not proviede software of this type. I haven't heard of this problem before so I don't know what the engineers will do, if the phone meets warranty conditions then it will be free of charge.

Hayley:  You have a 2 year manufacturing warranty on your SE handset. Warranty T&C’s can be found here: http://dl-www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/861/451/1287561362/X10i__UG_EN_1234-4354_3.pdf

Hayley:  Sorry, from this link: http://dl-www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/655/094/1251813505/LegalAndWarranty_1222-9269_2_en_24....

adele:  can i direct you to the discussion boards

adele:  you havent come aross the problem yet there are threads all over the boards?

Hayley:  These are not faults that have been reported to us, it is merely a forum where anyone can post anything. We cannot comment on the fault without seeing the phone.

Hayley:  And if there is still a problem with your phone then it would need to be sent away.

adele:  convenient isnt it....and what is the time scale for repairs?

Hayley:  Approx 5-7 working days from receipt with our engineers.

adele:  well can you send me the appropriate packaging and once the christmas is over i will send it in until then i will be reverting back to the previous software version when the sd card is at least accessible

Hayley:  We do not send out packaging, we provide a freepost address to send the phone to. I can send you an email with all the repair information. Please could I take your email address?

adele: **email address removed**

Hayley:  Ok, you'll have that email within 10 minutes.

Hayley:  I hope the information I have given answers your query. Is there anything else I can help you with?

adele:  you have not provided any answers just a cope out rather than admit there are problems with the software update...however will appreciate the details for getting the phone "fixed"

adele:  thanks

Hayley:  No problem Adele. Thanks for using Sony Ericsson Chat Support today. Goodbye.

it doesn't make sense that your phone needs to be repair, its the buggy 2.3.3 update
