Whenever I try to cast to my Sony Bravia it tells me it can't connect as it's already connected to another device. However, I don't know what other device it's connected to. I'm not conscious of casting to the TV from any other device in my home. So, how do I find out which device it is and stop it casting so that I can cast from my phone?
Hey, try a simple power cycle (unplug for a minute then plug back), then check the steps here: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/faep1/v1/en/08-09_13.html?hl=mirror
@HannahEd01 - Yep, I did all of that and I still get "registration failed due to a request from another device". And I'm not actively mirroring my screen from any other device on my home network that I'm aware of. I do have a Sky Q and a Sky mini box on my home network. Can they possibly interfere with this process?
Hi @ksaro1
If you haven't already done so, I would make sure that you are running the latest software.
Firmware update to v6.7140 | Sony UK
A reset (or factory reset) often fixes these type of glitches.
How do I perform a factory reset on Sony's Android TV? | Sony UK
I would have said that Sky Q has nothing to do with your problem.
You may have to contact Sony Support.
Went through the palaver of a full factory reset and I still can't register a device to cast to the Bravia. I get the same message. Also, a few seconds after the message about not being able to register appears, another message appears in a separate window telling me that the WiFi has dropped. Then in a minute or 2 the WiFi reconnects.
Hi,
Have you tried to change the automatic time to network time instead of broadcast time? (Home- settings- device preferences- date and time- automatic date and time- network time). Also, have you tried to disable the Bluetooth and disconnect any USB or external devices connected?
Cheers,
Gladio
Hi ksaro1, nothing left but to try another phone (if you haven't already) then contact Sony.
@HannahEd01 - thx for the reply. It isn't the phone reporting an error, it's the Bravia. The phone sees the Bravia and tries to connect but the Bravia then reports that another device is already registered even though there isn't any other device. I have tried the connection from 2 different Android phones of different manufacture (Xiaomi & Huawei). This also fails from a PC trying to share its screen.
Hi ksaro1,
Even if the phone sees the connection, sometimes an interference may occur, that's way its always better to try a different phone. If it doesn't work i would also recommend contacting Sony.
