HI, I have a Z3 Dual and have smashed the main display. I want to delete all data before sending for repair however the screen is not responding at all.
I have gone through the steps here - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Z3-Dual/unresponsive-screen/m-p/1007534 however i am unable to switch the phone off completelly - only a soft restart using the power and volume up key - the phone then restarts before i can go to step 4 where i connect the usb holding the volume down button. By that time the phone has restarted.
Allowing the phone to completely run out of battery is not an option as the above requires at least 80% battery even when plugged in.
Is there another way to delete all data or another way to switch the phone off completely using other buttons?
thanks.

Sorry to hear about your phone.
To turn the phone off, try holding the yellow button next to the SIM card for a few seconds. This should power it down so that you can perform a software repair in PC Companion.
Two further options
1. use a USB OTG cable along with a USB mouse and take control of the phone like you would do on a Pc
2. login to Android device manager and send a command to erase the phone
