All photos my wife or myself take in low light levels has a white blurr that appears on the right side after the camera flashes, the image is without this problem until it is taken. Is this a problem with the software or a hardware flaw with the camera/flash proximity to each other and the chrome rim around the lens.this is on both our z1 phones my wife has a white one and I a black one. The red inference on the left side is not common just bad lighting. When I say the right side it would be on the bottom side for portrait photos

Less than 48hrs of purchasing mine. Tried camera, manual mode in very low light. Very pixilated. Aside from that, 20mp camera only in 4:3 aspect ratio? What is that? Who uses 4:3 anymore.
Photos l saw advertised at 20mp were all 16:9. I'm a videographer. The 20mp camera was the deciding factor in buying the phone rather than doubling up with a DSLR.
Is there something l'm missing here?
This along with 3.5 speaker jack issues may result in a return on Monday....
Autodesk app Pixlr Express will crop to 16:9 and has some adjustments to improve image quality as a quick workaround.
However, found this thread. Haven't tried Procapture yet, it's late, will try tomorrow.
So this morning I installed Pro Capture Free, just as a test. The free version doesnt allow changes to resolution, so at this stage, l'm not paying just to test it.
I pulled out my previous phone, and loaded default cameras with no adjustments side by side. The Nokia E7 was crisp and completely clear, no matter which way l turned it. The Z1 was completely unacceptable. As l probably said, I decided on this camera specifically for the camera, it's a great disappointment with a big hole in my pocket.
Removed post. Seems girl who put protective cover and case on screen didn't see back plastic. I only noticed when packing phone up today. Camera works fine and l'm keeping it. Soz for the 'spamming. I'd delete the addtional posts yet don't seem to have permissions. If someone else does, feel free!.

The phone itself is awesome and the camera is not as good as u would have liked but overall it still beats a lot of the competition. For me a camera is secondary to speed of UI and quality of calls. If I wanted a professional photo I would have bought a high end Digital SLR but happy with the camera now I have figured out the problems.
I don't know how did you say that the cam is performing at satisfactory leve.even after using in manual mod with ISO 100 or 200 The Pics are looking like the oil painting... very disappointed...:smileygeek:
A very bad impression of xperia Z1 in case of photography... 😞 Can't expect from sony to make such type of crap ...:-(
