Xperia Z Ultra (C6833) - what about encrypted sdcard?

Hello everyone,

I updated my Xperia Z Ultra (C6833) to Android 5.1 today. Well, at least sort of...

After downloading the whole package of 3xx MB the phone told me that it would now start the update process. It rebooted and that's it. It hung in an endless boot loop, showing only the white SONY and XPERIA Z ULTRA screen for some seconds, then rebooting again. And again. It did that for some hours and even pressing the off-button (next to the sim slot) didn't do anything.

So I repaired it with the PC companion. That worked well and the phone is now on Android 5.1. As I'm typing it lays by me on the desk and currently installs the apps and syncs its data.

Before the update the phone was encrypted including the sd card, too. After the factory reset the phone isn't encrypted anymore of course. I'll do that when it's finished all updates and synchronization.

I wonder what's gonna happen with the sd card? Currently the phone says the card cannot be recognized. Seems reasonable to me since it's encrypted. How can I access the encrypted sd card? Will it be recognized once the phone is encrypted again?

Regards,

Ancient

Ok, here are the results for Sony's update - encrypted SD card can't be accessed by the phone anymore neither unencrypted nor after phone encrption. As you said there may have been another encryption key used. Had to format the card and restore the content from a backup.

Remember guys, before you update anything: save early, save often!

Hard to say as your phone may use a different encryption key
