Xperia Z hands free mic not working

Hello,

I bought the device 2 weeks ago and I am using the original hands free set that came with the device, when I connect the hands free I can hear the other party loud and clear but they can not hear me at all, I tried installing the Smartkey App still face the same problem and the volume keeps going up and down by it self. No water came to the device nor the handset. Any clues ?? Sony how about some answers here ? Don't you test the products that come out of your factories !!!!!

ok then providing you have not installed any apps that might be contributing to this you may have a hardware problem

before you return the phone to supplier or Sony service center you should do an update repair using PCC or SUS then try it again

you sure you are using the supplied headset - there are 2x standards for these and one of them will not work with EZ

Can you find some way to test the headset mic - perhaps with a friends phone (iphone should work)

Yes I am using the supplied handset that came with the device. I tried the hand free on an iphone as you suggested and it worked perfectly, then I tried it again on the Xperia Z and the same problem again.

I'll try doing what you suggested, could a factory reset from the phone solve the problem ?

Is the suspect wired headset a Sony MH-EX300AP? I have one of these and it works well.

When you plug in the wired headset does the internal mic still register sound?

To do further testing I suggest installing an app such as "Noise Meter". This app just listens to the mic and discounts the possibility of some other issue. With Noise Meter installed you just have to run your finger over the active mic and you can see the sound graph instantly respond.

If the wired mic does not respond when using Noise Meter I suggest taking the Z back to the repairer, given that you have tested the headset on another unit.

This is so weired, when I use other hands free with the Z it works fine and when I use the Sony hands free MH-EX300AP with any other phone it works fine as well, the problem is when I connect the SUPPLIED SONY HANDSFREE WITH THE SONY XPERIA Z, what the @%#!

Just wait till you start using bluetooth mics. Then you'll really know the meaning of frustration. Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes
