Volume muting issue

Hi I've noticed a weird issue with my xperia z- occasionally when I'm trying to play some music or a video the volume will be locked to 0 and I can't turn it up with either the volume rocker or via the settings menu until i restart the phone. This issue is occuring both when I have a 3.5mm jack plugged in and when trying to use the loudspeaker.

has anyone else had this problem and if so is there a fix?

It's not something i've heard of. If the problem remains i recommend that you first try repairing the phones software using PC Companion (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/) and see if that helps.

I've seen this happened before. but not on an Xperia phone though. It was  abrand new Note II. Send it back for service aand they had to replace the motherboard.

Try to repair like what Rikard suggested first. If it doesn't solve the problem, send for service.

Hi - I've got a similar problem.  Since the last software update I can no longer control the media volume anywhere.  The colume rocker only controls the ring tone voume, and not media so I have no way at all of turning music or video-audio content up or down - such a hassle, and only since the last software update. Anyone else with this problem?

this is actually not an issue. by default, the volume rocker only controls the ringtone. however, if youhave your walkman playing a song, it will control the media volume instead.

it's smart in a way, but it's kinda troublesome. i miss the old volume controller where it gives u an option to open up the other  controllers for all 3 volumes.
