Am trying to update my Xperia Z to the latest Android version. After some minutes of Initialization, it stops and won't progress even after a long time. I've tried rebooting the PC and starting again, unplugging and replugging the phone, but always the same. Can someone tell me (a) what the problem is/might be; (b) how I can get the update done!

disable your antivirus and / or firewall and try again.

Dear Uliwooly,
Thanks! I tried your first advice (disable firewall etc), but it didn't help - initialization stopped at the same place, 2 or 3 times.
However, I did then follow your second advice (using SUS), which worked fine; problem solved.
The use of Companion therefore remains an issue for updating the phone.
Brgds,
Adrian
