Multi Camera: Z3

Multi Camera: Z3

Hi,

I have a Z3 compact and a Z3 Compact Tablet. Both have the multi-camera function installed.

However, when I enable it and touch them back-to-back they try to connect for a long time, but nothing happens and eventually a message pops up to say that they cannot connect.

They are obviously recognising each other, but there isn't any multi-camera happening.

I've tried three permutations:

1) Start multi-camera on the Z3 Compact and touch it to the Z3 Compact Table. Result is a long delay and then a pop-up on the Z3 Compact to say 'Connecting to Xperia' and a pop-up on the Z3 Tablet Compact saying 'New tag collected: application/onlineremote' which is repeated over several lines. Eventually the Z3 Compact says that it can't connect.

2) In reverse with the Z3 Compact Tablet first. Same again as (1), just the other way round.

3) Start the camera app on both and select multicamera on both and then touch them back-to-back. They both try to connect and then eventually give up.

Any ideas? I'm not running anything exotic. They are both Sony Z3 models with the default android on them and they haven't been rooted.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi,

So, a significant update on this.

I called Sony and they told me to delete the cache and data files for the camera application on both devices. I did that and it made no difference.

Then they told me to factory reset both devices, at which point I got quite grumpy because I've spent long enough setting them up and Sony didn't have a specific reason why this would fix the problem. I felt it was a bit of a 'try this because we can't think of anything else to tell you'.

Anyway, I didn't do that. What I did to is happen to restart both devices over the next couple of days.

Then I tried it again, putting both devices into multicamera mode before I tried to open the connection. And it worked.

So, three possible options:

  • Reset the cache/date for the applications.
  • Restart the device.
  • Attempt the connection when both devices are in multi-camera mode.
  • Or maybe just a combination of all three ... ?

I hope that helps someone!

Joe

What if you go to settings > bluetooth > pair both devices then try again

Quite odd, do you have any antivirus or taskillers?

uninstall it and try again

It's the default antivirus that was shipped with the devices by Sony... Not something I've installed myself. Joe

So I've uninstalled the AVG antivirus that was shipped with the Z3 Tablet Compact, it the Z3 Compact won't let me uninstalled the Lookout antivirus that it was shipped with. It still doesn't work. I still get the message above. Does this need to be opened as a formal support case somehow? Thanks, Joe
