Amazon Prime Video app missing

Hi all!

So I got me a shiny new Xperia XZ Premium the other day from a big local retailer here in Germany. After setting up the device I've noticed that the Amazon Prime Video app which gets even advertised on the products page and ads is completely missing.

I don't want to open my device for apps from unknown sources for security reasons and thus I won't use Amazon Underground. So what is this? Anybody else? Why is the app missing and how do I get it onto my device without being forced to lower the security of it?

I've already contacted Sony Support, but they're still investigating and it sounds like they won't be able to solve this.

It tells me on that Play Store page that my device is not compatible with this app

I have the same probleme. It just tells me that my device is not competable with this app.

Does anyone have a solution or knows where the problem is?

You will have to contact the app developer, as it might be a regional restriction.

As far as I know the Amazon video app is only available via underground - at last that's where I got it the last couple of years (Germany too) was/is there a version in the play store now?

The Amazon Prime Video app is now available via the Google Play Store for Xperia XZ Premium devices!

I told you guys that I was in contact with the Xperia Support and told them about the situation while asking them to clarify the situation with Google/Amazon. After a few days of back and forth the app is now finally available via Google Play. That was pretty fast!
