After much wasted time and surfing it would appear that I have to upgrade WinDVD from the VAIO update site to get access to this key. So I have downloaded WinDVD BD -8.0 - 8.0.9.670_2 and WinDVD BD Update -8.0.9.754 but I still get the message.

Pressing 'Yes' to update the key when requested, of course, does nothing, just a screen that says that it is downloading but in fact nothing happens.

Please help - how do I get this crappy software to update? And why do Sony install such crappy software on such a great notebook!

This did the trick:-

1.Click the Start button, click All Programs , click InterVideo WinDVD , and then right-click on InterVideo WinDVD BD for VAIO and choose 'Run as Administrator'.
