I just received my docking station for my Z1, and I noticed there is a DVI-D port.
Using Google I found out, that you can attach a external monitor - like with the VGA-port. But is that all there is to it? Or can you do other magic tricks with it?
The DVI-Port is a digital connection to a Monitor (normally a TFT display)
The VGA Port is the analog version. The most of the VAIO labtops have a VGA-Port to connect an external monitor.
But your TFT display in your Labtop is connected directly with the Graphics adapter (I think, May be I'm wrong)
Ahh, that is the difference. So if I had a TFT monitor, the quality would be better using the DVI-D port instead of the VGA, right?
Yes, If you have an DVI on your TFT display, I would use this.
Hi Hankatten,
IMO, DVI-D is best suited to large LCD screens or projectors
on smaller monitors it is hard to tell the diffrence.
I have it on my PC but havent used it yet!

DVI is a digital output for monitors, and a lot of people say it's better than analogue VGA
Thanks everyone. :smileytalk_to_the_hand: I guess you are never to old to learn...
