Got my AR11S in July and have never been able to burn DVDs from TV programmes I've recorded. I get an error code 515 when I try to use Click to DVD in Windows Media. It will sometimes do it, but when it does the audio and video are out of sync. Oh, and I've dowloaded all the updates. Anyone else having this problem? I've had contact with Sony's support, but they're not much help and have now told me they need to collect it for repair after almost 3 months of asking for their help. I think a laptop that's faulty from the day you buy it should be replaced, not taken away for 7-14 days for repair. To make matters worse, the paint is flaking off around the data card reader, too. Very un happy with my Vaio and Sony's online help.
To add insult to injury, I see they are now selling the new Core duo 2 AR series with twice the memory for the same price as the AR11s. So 3 months old, broken, out of date and all for just £2000. Thanks Sony.
Yeah I HATE that, when they sell a newer version of your laptop for a LOT less, winds me up no end!
As for the problem, did you try using Nero to make the DVDs? This will convert them to MPEG2 ready for DVD burning, as Windows Media isn't really a good format for DVD - it's lossy.
Thanks for the reply.
I've not tried any other software as I think from what Sony are telling me, it's the Blu-ray drive that's faulty. They're sticking them in their expensive laptops, but have delayed the PlayStation 3 due to Blu-ray drive problems. What's that about?!?!?!?!?!
If only we knew....
Amazes me too
