Hi Guys
Just want to report the total lack of knowledge that Sony techncial people have. I have the above laptop for 2 mnths when the DVD drive stopped working. Would not recognise any DVD. Sent it for repairs and it returned with a new drive. Brilliant you may think but one catch. My old drive burned at 4x DVD-r the new one is a measley 2x drive. Contacts Sony who told me to update firmware. Well I would but the drive they installed is a U54A not the U55b that I had before. 3 weeks down the line and numerous calls later i,m still trying to convince them they installed the wrong drive. Well i wanted to moan maybe you guys suffered somet similar or anyone got a A117s what drive do you have?
Heh what a lame tactic by Sony, if they are going to replace the DVD the LEAST they could do is put the correct drive in.
Customers pay a lot for these VAIOs....
That's a real bu**er Kyser. However, don't stand for that Sony nonsense send the machine back. Don't forget your consumer rights. Goods should be of"merchantable quality" and I can think of no legal reason that you should have been short-changed with your drive. I'd kick up a real stink if I were you. "He who shouts loudest gets what he was shouting for"
Made that up but hey! I'm sure it works. Try it:smileygrin:

That is such a load of horse shot. I don't know how exactly they think they are right and you are wrong but........I don't know there's nothing more frustrating than arguing with someone who doesn't use the same logic as the rest of us.
What exactly are they saying, that they installed the right drive or that you have got the model number wrong?
