... what is your opinion? Let's talk about it!!!
Don't really care about MP3 vs ATRAC - any music that I listen to I have on physical CD - I don't even know how to buy or make MP3's [:">]
I like it but the screen is a little small - obviously this machine is primarily a music device but I would want something geared more towards pictures/ video - very handy on holiday

Cheers mate
You have a gramophone I dream of having a gramophone, have to make do with a bit of rolled up newspaper and a rusty needle
Hehe
Well I guess IF you had to convert gramaphone records to mp3 you would have to put a microphone in the speaker (trumpet?)
In those days they didn't have phonp
hehehehe just kidding.
BTW if you really wanted to do this - the Sonic Stage mastering studio software is brilliant to do so.
Sorry - i need my weekend away from the desk - enjoy yours!
CU
Oh I will CU
I remember that sweet looking player. Not ever had a chance to have a good play with it, but sounds like it could be what some people have been waiting for (in terms of an iPod rival). Not too sure on the different format discussions, but seriously, if MP3 support is available i'm sure the majority would look further into this.

Can't see this taking off. It's just too late to market and think that Sony have seriously missed a trick here.
My ideal would be a device like the iPod or PSP (style), but if it's going to have video/photo support, then either built in AV outputs, or by way of port replicator (5.1 audio etc). Also it must have the ability to allow users to update codec support (divx, OGG etc).
The point being that I have all my music, video with me, but if I seriously want to watch a film, I can just plug the device into a HDTV and Digital Audio amp.
Give up on DRM or 'converting' to ATRAC3. If you want to sell digital downloading, then support for ATRAC3 is acceptable, but must not be the primary differentiator. Users must be able to drag n drop files through an OS filemanager, not propriatory software.
Furthermore, wireless connectivity or the ability to use as a networked device.
... think portable media centre...
... think going to blockbusters, connecting the device and uploading a movie, take it home and watch on your home cinema.
(btw nice Avatar Alan )
