why does the missing MP3 support bother you? if i understand correctly, there is an Apple proprietary format called AAC or something.

Furthermore - if you upload 20 or 40 GB of music it does not really matter if internally it is converted.

Because I have a lot of MP3 that I made of my collection. Anyway AAC doesn't die if the DB dies. (Unless you buy from AppleStore.
