Question about memory/hard drive

Hello everyone!

I currently have the Sony Vaio VGN NW20EF laptop and I have nearly used up all of the 288GB hard drive.

Is it possible to install either an additional hard drive into the laptop? Or perhaps change it for a greater one?

If this is possible, are there any limitations how big the hard drive can be for this laptop?

What about adding additional memory to the laptop too. Is this possible? If so, what are the limitations on doing this too?

Sorry for all the 'n00b' sort of questions!

Hi - no such thing as a silly question here!!

You can add memory up to a maximum of 8GB (2 X 4GB)

You cannot add an internal drive, but you can add an external drive or upgrade your internal hard drive.   There is no maximum as long as you buy a SATA 2.5inch slimline hard drive (no more than 9.5mm thick).  These now come with a capacity up to 1TB.

If you replace your hard drive, the simpleast method is to make a mirror of your existing hard drive, including the recovery partition and put this back on the new drive. The big advantage of this is that you will not lose the preinstalled software and there is no setting up to do. You will need something like Acronis True Image.

Good Luck
