I have a sony vaio laptop VGN-FE41Z with a dual boot option hard drive with both windows vista and windows 7 boot options, until a couple of weeks ago both version worked very well with regards to the NVIDIA GEFORCE GO 7600 video card but now when I boot it up in either windows option the first view on the screen is a number of dotted vertical line and then when windows startup screen appears I get a blue screen that states that NVLDDMKM.SYS failed to load.
xxx stop: 0x00000116 (0x86ecc008, 0x90e089a0, 0x00000000, 0x00000002)
xxxnvlddmkm.sys address 90e089a0 base at 90e06000 date stamp 46c782.
my driver is version 7.15.11.6369 dated 11/09/2007
the phoenix BIOS is ver R0200J3 uuid b5c98f40-5002557-811-0013a986f072.
I have tried to flash the bios with the same software
but I get at WBFLASH (error cannot read the system information.)
when I open the bios screen there is dotted vertical lines down the screen,
If I disable the nvidia driver and run windows basic driver I can get both version of windows to work with only limited video functions.
I know sony don't support nvidia drivers for windows 7 for this laptop but it as been working well ever since windows 7 came out. and the problem is with both vista and windows 7.
I have run all the update options from windows web site for both win 7 and vista.
I have contacted NVIDIA customer support but the say the drivers for sony laptops are OEM only and they don't have any new driver but try to reflash/update the BIOS
very sorry for rabitting on but I have little knowledge of computers and just put down what I have seen.
hope some one can help,
many thanks for reading this.
regards
