My Microphone is not working

In Windows seems everything installed properly. no any problem in hardware test, but somehow my microphone is not working. my question is if there is a inbuild Microphone in Vaio A197VP, or is there any switch to on the Microphone? or I have to use an external Microphone?

Make sure you are connecting the microphone to the red input socket on your VAIO - I am pretty sure that your model does not have an internal microphone. Also check in the Volume Control applet that the Microphone volume is not muted - It has caught me out in the past!

None of the VAIO range have an in-built mic, just mic-in.
