does the vaio pocket play mp3 files or only atrac3 files?

I am sorry only atrac format. But it pays well, the sound is better. Its hard long work, but if do it very exact you get the the best result and this is cool. In an other forum, somebody said, that sony works to do it on mp3. You have to look very urgent on one thing when you convert: Give the file the right name, for examle,
Smoke on the water : Deep Purple : Live in Japan
Title : Interpret : Album..... the thing in SonicStage is that it works with Album. And to it alway step by step. You will get some files, which doesn`t work, convert them to wma or wave, after that convert them to atrac. You have to findyour way to to that, but it will pay well. Surely. Other programs do it easier, thats right, but you win a price after that.

I know mp3 was to be supported as well in the future, I guess it hasn't been implemented yet.

Yes, I don't suppose the current models will have enough free space in their flash memory to handle both atrac and mp3 decoding.

they make realy nice products and with good designs, but they are very stobborn

No I think its like that, that sony what to have you to put original Cd on a vaio, there is no problem to do this. Take 12 Songs into SSt, convert them to atrac, give right names and album pictures and after that put it to the vaio pocket. THIS WORKS. But :smileygrin: , if thousands of illegal mp3s from anywhere out of the wild wild web, there is a problem. Be legal and you´ve got no problem.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha , my dear Thorin.
I also like my Vaio's, and i agree with you on the illegal mp3's.
But i already own a Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra 60 gb and I put a very great deal of my free time in compressing my 500+ legal CD's into Lame 256kbps VBR mp3's and they sound very good, and i think even better than artac.
BTW the zex has got a great volume and an easy search function
that does not mean that i am not gonna use my lovely vaio pocket, but it is gonna take a ****ing lot of time to to get my cd's on the little ****.
