"you have lost all the drivers and Driver Magician is not much use." thats without doubt not strictly true, ive had many occasions even in the last week where i have formated the sony vaio vgn-nr32m and used the software i have stated to regain some drivers.

and just to say soemthign esle, would i be wrong in assuming that just becuase a user uses the recovery discs, this doesnt not mean its gaurenteed to work on the new os, especially if you go from vista to windows 7 and even xp to vista or windows 7, and deffinatrly if its goes from 32bit to 64bit.

"Some Drivers" is not much good.  All the 64-bit drivers are available for download - I'm not quite sure why you would need to pay for Driver Magician.

The Recovery Discs are Windows 7 64-bit.

i may be wrong, but the recovery discs 64bit version are only avaliable to the laptops that have already gt 64bit drivers.

which goes with what i was saying about the recovery disc not being that relaible if the original drivers are only 32 bit.

Please check your facts before posting - you are just confusing users who have come here for help.

It only takes a moment to check that the original drivers for this model are 64-bit.  It was sold with Windows 7 64-bit preinstalled and the Recovery discs are 64-bit.

"Please check your facts before posting - you are just confusing users who have come here for help."

erm calm down their tiger.

first i was correct in what i was sayign since it was an assumption and a question from ymself stating that a recovery disc for a specific laptop would be of no use if the operating system is 64bit windows 7 so to speak, and the recovery disc is 32bit and cant work with windows 7.

so all you needed to say is that i was wrong, and clearly state WHY i was wrong.

instead of course you for some reaosn got on your high horse and accused me of not stating FACTS when i wasnt even doing that in my reply.
