how can i record 8x dvd-r on my A215Z

i can not fnd useful information on vaio-link!!! but i read the specification which comes with the laptop, it said it is up to 8x dvd-r writing speed!!!

Are you using -R discs as opposed to +?

i am using philips 8x dvd-r, but i haven't try dvd+r, it should be working but i do not know why?

What program are you using to burn the discs?

i just want to make recovery disk for my system, i use original sony vaio recovery utility!!! does it makes sense when you use different program!!!

I think it only takes -R

Whoa there!:smileygrin: assumed you were trying to burn some sounds etc. Vaios are extremely tempremental with some discs. You may need to try another brand. Have you used them before?
