I have one of these horrible laptops!! I bought it online and sent it back after 10 days. I told them the processor was making a high pitch noise and they needed to replace the processor and the cheap parts around it that kick in when the processor goes into power save......they told me the noise level was acceptable and when I said it was not acceptable and pushed back they then came back and said they did a bios update (first thing I did when the noise started) and that it was fixed. I said I did a bios update and that the bios can’t fix this issue but send it back and I will just send it back to you if the issue is still there. I got my laptop back and it was OK for a couple of days then BOOM, that horrid noise again!! I called Sony and told them that I had the same issue. They collected my laptop and then called me to say that I could turn off C3/C6 support so the processor does not go into power save. I said I don’t want to do that as it will reduce the already rubbish 2 hour battery life and my laptop will heat up more causing the fan to come on more and possibly burning something out. What I want you, Sony, to do is replace my processor with one that does not squeal. They then then came back and said there is nothing wrong with my laptop after all…..even though an hour ago they acknowledged there was an issue with the processor making a horrible high pitched noise!! I said the customer service girl can you look at this as if this was your laptop……would you be happy to have paid £800 for a Sony laptop for it to make this horrid noise that you just cant hide from….it is all you hear and makes me not want to use my laptop I paid £800 for!! She agreed with me and pushed this back to the tech’s. A day or 2 later I got a call from Sony to say that my laptop is normal, nothing wrong with it. I pushed back saying the same things over and over…..this guy agreed with me and pushed this back to the tech’s. 2 days later I got another call from Sony to tell me the same story. My laptop is normal and the tech’s will not fix it. I pushed back again, again, again, again…..they had my laptop for over a month, longer than I had it for and still they refused to fix it. You know I bought a Sony as I wanted a Sony and I expected good quality as I am paying double what I would pay for a dell or an HP and for Sony to give me this run around is something else!! Any ho. I told Sony that they can keep their laptop and I want my money back which they said they could not do as it was out of the 14 days….I alluded them to the fact that I have had the same issue since day 1 and you had my laptop from day 10 so I am still in the 14 days…..and if they will not give me my money back then I will get my credit card company to refund me the money, (which they are happy to do as I called them and told them the story) and then they will chase Sony for the money. So after that conversation some else called me from Sony and told me to take my laptop back and then as soon as I get it back to call back and my call will be escalated……this is where we are today. I have just got my laptop back from Sony after they had it for 2 months and it is still making this horrid noise and to make matters worse there is a mark on what looks like the inside of the screen!! WTF!! I am calling Sony tomorrow first thing to send this back at best I will get my money back, at worst I will get a new laptop that does not squeal. This experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will never buy a Sony product again!! Sony should be ashamed, they are meant to be up there with Apple not lower than…..sorry I can’t insult another brand as they all have to be better that Sony and for a third of the price!!
