My 'Sony' DVD+RW disc is stuck in the notebook, and keeps on spinning so it won'tlet me eject ...think its an unreadble disc and keeps on trying to read it!
I can't see My Computer while this is in the machine either as its not responding while trying to read the disc.
How do I stop it from trying to read it, so I can get the thing out!!?
Im on XP Pro (Sp2) , A297XP laptop.
Thanks!
Phil
As far as getting things stopped and getting your disc out.... simple way, press and hold the power button - after about 5 secs the system will shut down (standard on most computers). Then unbend a normal sized paperclip and insert it into the small hole you will find somewhere on the CD drive face. This is the manual unlock for almost all optical drives.
Then, once you have recovered your CD and shut the drive you will be free to power on again.
Having done that I might suggest you come back to this forum, read a thread titled Optical Drive Issues and add your feelings on the matter
Thanks!
It stopped and popped out by itself eventually.
What a pain!
A other point,
On your DVD+RW drive is a tiny hole. That is button, click and the drive is open.
I noticed the hole....so it overrides whatever has control...unlike the eject button on the end?
Thanks.
Phil
Yes, with this one, you can open the drive when your labtop is off.
Or when the normal eject button not work.
