My hard drive died so I bought another and reinstalled vista home premium. Since then my camera doesn't work. It isn't in the device manager.
I now cannot find anything to do with sony on the computer, I have tried downloading the utilities and drivers and more specifically the camera capture utility but everytime I try and install them it starts installing then stops and the installation process completely disappears without installing anything.
Any ideas how I can get the camera working again?
Thanks
Charl
Hi Charl,
Have you reinstalled the camera driver after replacing the hard drive?
You will find it as part of the Original Drivers Package here: -
http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/preinstalled/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VGN-CR11S_P
Download the .zip file and right-click on it. Choose 'Extract All' and extract the file to somewhere you can find it - like C:\Drivers.
Then go to C:\Drivers\CR1_Drivers\Drivers\Camera\VGP-VCC6 and run DPInst32.exe by double clicking on it - this will install the camera driver and you should find 'Sony Visual Communications Camera VCC6' in Device Manager under Imaging Devices.
You should then be able to set up the camera in applications like Skype and if you want to capture images you will need to install these two Utilities from the Original Utilities Package which can be found on the same link as the drivers: -
1. Utils Installer Vaio Camera Utility
2. Utils Installer Vaio Camera Capture Utility
