FS115B : Brightness control not working

hey all, I got my new laptop a couple of weeks ago and the other day the brightness control stopped working. I still get the display that says what the new level is, and the beep, but there is no actual brightness change.

i've searched the news groups and google but no hope. Its a pain because it's stuck on level 3 😞

Hope someone has some answers

Mmmh, no idea

I think that is a problem for the e-support. But the e-support doesn't work today.:smileysad:

Have you reinstalled the utils.exe package from C:\Utils?

Yeah, I've reinstalled all the software. I guess I'll give the support a call this week.

Cheers for the help

Ok, as I was opening it today while calling the support I noticed the screen flicker into brightness. If I hold the bottom edge of the screen casing tightly it will now go super-bright... it seems there's a dodgy connection there.

Pretty sucky since it's only been sitting on my desk for 3-weeks... as soon as I can spare 10-15 days to get it repaired I will 😞

Do not press hard on your LCD.

Don't worry, I'm not that dumb. It's not the LCD itself but the casing. On the hinges where the body and the screen meet.

It shouldn't be doing that - that's for sure.

Bah. Mine does that. Sometimes when you move the screen on it's hinges the brightness flickers and changes until you wiggle it some more. Not the first person I've seen to have that too.....

Mine added a unique twist this week.

When I came to turn on my PC with the following connected, from cold with the lid closed the LCD flashed violently during BIOS boot up, then after I entered my BIOS password, Windows started up and the screen carried on working as if nothing had ever happened.

Attached stuff:
* Logitech Click! Optical Mouse (USB)
* AC Power
* Headphones

Odd thats for sure. Even wierder is that it only ever happens in BIOS and not inside Windows - ever...
