dvd-rw dvrk15

i have a vgn fs215, my cd rom isn't working, when i went into the device manager i found an exclamtion mark next to it. where can i find a driver cd to reload my cd rom??

Hi busybee86 and welcome to Club VAIO,

Is there an error code in Device Manager? If there is an error code 19, 31, 32, 39 or 41 , then come back here with the code and your problem can be solved with a simple Registry Fix.

If there is no error code or explanation, you can force Windows to reinstall the drivers quite simply by right-clicking on the drive with the yellow ! in Device Manager and clicking on 'Uninstall'. If you then re-boot your Vaio, Windows will automatically reinstall fresh drivers.

However, as you have an error, I expect you will need the Registry fix - I will go through this step by step if you come back here with the error code.

You are in luck.

Here is the fix posted by Rich some time back:

The following involves changes to the registry and I recommend that you make a backup of your registry before proceeding.

Then:

1.Click Start > Run and type: REGEDIT , and hit enter.

2. Navigate to -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

and locate UpperFilters, (if it exists) right click on this and select Delete and then OK.

3. Under the same Registry Key locate LowerFilters, (if it exists) right click on this and select Delete and then OK.

4. Quit Registry Editor and re-boot the computer, new registry values will be created that will hopefully cure the problem.

After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, you may possibly need to re-install your burning software – but not necessarily.

It should work!!!
