Hey everyone, anyone have any experience of connecting a PS2 and / or a SCART (for Sky TV in the UK) to a Sony desktop, specifically the VGC-LA2?
The PS2 output is the red / yellow / white phono cables, which plug nicely into the sockets of the Vaio, however how do i set the VAIO up to recieve the signal happily? When i attempt to set it up as a TV signal using Composite, this is fine, but it produces an error along the lines of no IR recieved from the TV set top box. Annoying. Surely there is a way to do this?
Additionally, no SCART socket - again annoying. the coaxel connection from Sky TV output to monitor input doesnt seem to achieve anything, as the TV scan cannot find it.
Any help most welcome.
thanks
J
Hi jocal and welcome to Club Vaio.
The only input terminals are through the TV card in your LA2.
Sky TV is best connected by S-Video but to configure this with Media Centre requires an "IR Blaster" LIKE THIS ONE for about £20 including the remote. Is one not included with the LA2?
As input is through the TV card, the delay in displaying the screen from a PS2 makes any sort of gameplay impossible. Unfortunately there is no way of using your LA2 as a monitor as there is no way of displaying a full screen image apart from through the Media Centre TV setup.

Thanks for your help, ill try the S Video. Vaio have actually come back to me since with advice along the same lines.
Disappointing about the PS2 but there you go. So much for sony media centre, cant even connect their own products!
