AV Out Port on Sony Vaio PCG-GRT996ZP

Hi Guys,

Wondered if anyone could help. Bot my laptop nearly 2 years ago and finally got round to purchasing the correct lead to connect it to my TV.

I asked the guys in the Sony shop which cabe I needed and £12.99 later I have returned home with the right cable. The only problem is that my laptop doesn't recognise it.

I plug it in the back and press "Fn+F7" as I am told to in my manual to select TV mode and nothing happens. When I first got my lapop, and being an inquisitive person, I have pressed the "Fn+F7" combination before. What used to happen was I could chose between LCD, LCD/TV and TV only options on my screen. This is what should come up on my screen now when connecting my lead, but I can no longer make this selection, either with or without the lead pluged in.

Can anyone please shed any light on the situation as I quite like the idea of watching films etc off my laptop on my TV

Thanks in advance

Sean

Cheers,

I'll try both those in the morning and report back to let you know how it goes.

If all else fails, is it possible to get a lead that connects to the moniter output to scart cable? Dont know if they exist? Any ideas?

Thanks for all your help so far

Sean

Fn+F7 and pressing --> till it says TV+LCD
Have u pressed "-->" and then enter?

Try this:

Right click on the desktop, click displays, right click on screen one and click properties click the red button on the tv icon it should turn green. If it says its not connected try a RED & WHITE auido lead to 3.5 plug. put the 3.5 into your yellow port (pc) and connect the red one to your yellow port on the TV, then connect the red port to the white on on your tv.

Press Fn+F7.
Still not working?

Try Right clicking on desktop, properties, right click on screen 2, click attached, click APPLY.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DESKTOP COLOUR except black or
HAVE a wallpaper.

You won't have two screen the same but you will have an extended desktop drag your program onto screen two.
Or if your using powerpoint go to TOOLS>Slideshow>Set up Show. Click Monitor> Monitor 2 [as default]

Hi,

Thanks for not giving up on me. I tried following your advice. Unfortunatly when i click apply after right clicking on screen 2, the screen goes black and then reappears, but screen 2 is still greyed out and when moving the cursor over it it sas "not attached".

Any ideas why this is?

Cheers
