Humming noise when Vaio is switched on?

Hi there, I just got a new pink sony Vaio, does anyone else have a strange high pitched humming noise when its on.Or know what this could be? its very loud when i turn the laptop around and listen at the bottom,but not so noticeable if just using it on my lap.

Unfortunately, how intrusive a humming noise is, is a matter of individual interpretation!

Does this happen on mains power , on battery or both?
Does the humming noise increase/decrease if you change the screen brightness (Fn + F5/F6)?
Are the cooling fans running when you hear the noise or not?

I suppose it is up to you what to do next. There is obviously some problem - this is not normal.

If you cannot live with it, then take the Vaio back to the shop where you bought it and ask them to replace it with another. The Retailer is required under law to replace a faulty item, or give a full refund within 28 days of purchase. This is to avoid the unsatisfactory situation where you are without your laptop while a repair takes place.
