Hi All,
A quick and hopefully basic question regarding the sub placement for the Sony HTAS5 surround sound system.
I've got one of these on order and will be looking to put the sub on the bottom shelf of my TV stand, but because of space constraints would be tipping it horizontally onto its side. It would be directly below the centre speaker (or about six inches away anyway).
Is there any technical or cosmetic issue with doing this?
I'm happy to put the sub vertically at the side of the unit if I have to, but it just fits better in the space I'm freeing up by moving my current amp.
Answers on a postcard...
Cheers all,
Dave
Someone feel free to correect me But my understanding is that bass is non-directional, so it doesn't matter hugely where you place the bass, except not too close to a wall as it will amplifiy it further and make it quite boomy I think.
Proof of the pudding is in the eating though, so I'd definitely experiment by playing a movie and see what sounds best mindful that every living room is unique in shape and audio dynamics.
Thanks
