My Sony blu-ray home theatre bdv-e3100 regularly streams Amazon at only 2-3 Mbits/second.
This is an issue of the Sony device, but only when streaming Amazon.
Tests conducted:
1. Is it my broadband? NO. Tests with Macbook Pro and Dell shows speeds of 40Mbits/second
2. Is it the Sony device? NO. The blu-ray will happily stream BBC iPlayer in 1080p HD.
3. Is it Amazon Instant Video? NO. Amazon plays HD through the Macbook Pro.
Conclusion: There is some software issue with the Sony bdv-e3100 that causes slow streaming from Amazon Instant Video.
If anyone has any information on this (and preferably how to solve it) I would be grateful.
Hi there
Can you please test using an ethernet cable via the BDV-E3100 and your router? Just trying to rule out Wifi issues.
Cheers
Hi - I've tried both Wifi and Ethernet cable, it makes no difference.
UPDATE: When I try to stream in the morning, there are no issues (speed 20 Mbps). So, this is an issue with traffic. For some some reason, this only affects the BDV-E3100 on Amazon (as described before), so my Macbook plays Amazon fine in the evening, and the BDV-E3100 plays BBC iPlayer fine in the evening. Only the Sony-Amazon combination is a problem.
