HELPWindows can"t access my files or DVD D:/

Microsoft will not answer my question, dont know where to turn, been fulling my hair out. When I use Windows dvd maker or any program its say windows can not access my  files or my DVD DRIVE D:/ and it also says I need to update my firmware and I have the latest that sony has. Please help in some way. Thanks

What Operating System? Is it the original OS?

Is the DVD Drive shown in 'My Computer'?

In Device Manager are there any yellow warning ! marks against or error codes against the DVD Drive?
