Can I use DSC-HX20V Firmware update in DSC-HX30V?
I just got this DSC-HX30V camera with Ver. 1.00 Firmware installed.
Sellers website says that I cuold choose from several different languages, Finnish included.
Sellers website also tells me that 'Camera file system is DCF 2.0, DPOF 1.1' what ever that means?
So why am I interested about this update?
- Becauce there is no firmware update available for DSC-HX30V (at the moment at least)
- I would like to change the language in the camera to Finnish (Still I don't know that would be possible after update?)
- Serial number on the camera is in the range mentioned at DSC-HX20V firmware update site
Can anyone help me with this one? Do I lose the Wi-Fi if I do update or what?
I will contact the seller but don't have my hopes on that! I wouldn't like to return the camera because it has the Wi-Fi.
Thanks for help in advance!

Ok, would probably loose Wi-Fi?
I tested already yesterday the update-software.
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/DSC-HX20V/downloads/FW_HX20V_V101_WIN
Did connect my HX30V to my laptop as told and continued for testing the software version..
Update-software did proceed without errors and discovered from my camera the correct firmware version (v.1.00).
I didn't proceed the update process. I want to get the sellers answer before anything else.
As said, there is no bigger reason to update for me, just wanted to change the language for display to Finnish.
Perhaps I could contact Sony service and ask if they have several firmaware v. 1.00 for HX30V. The one I have now have several languages to choose, for example Chinese. Perhaps there is a separate version for Northern Europe.
Can anyone here confirm that?
Thanks again for answers!

Hello TimoFl
To echo what cmosse has been saying, it wouldn't work correctly as each camera model has specific firmware designed for it.
I would never recommend trying to change the firmware in this manner as you would run the risk of invalidating the warranty or even making the camera completely unusable.
Thanks,
Simon
