How do I record videos from my DCR-DVD 106E Sony Handycam to my personal computer. Can't seem to locate any suitable software from the SONY site. I have an ACER asipre X1301 using Windows 7
and
Why can't I insert my DVD mini discs into the DVD drive of my computer? Is it because I am stupid? (no need to answer!)
Hi lymmio and welcome.
Have a look at the Tutorial here for some ideas: -

Some DVD drives do not support 8cm discs - but if they do it is necessary to finalise the disc in the camcorder first.
Have a look here for Windows 7 compatible software: -

Thank you for replying. I have spent seven hours today trying to find a way to record all my mini DVDs from my Sony camcorder to my computer so I can edit them and create some happy memories.
I bought a Ulead video converter and successfully converted all my old sony 8mm tapes with audio and video onto my PC. I thought it would be easier downloading from the sony camcorder as it is much more modern but unfortunately not.
It captures the video but not the audio! I'm trying to download the images from a Sony DVD-RW 1.4gb disc. Where am I going wrong? I've finalised the disc? looked for suitable software on the sony site? the Image Data Converter discs with the camcorder don't seem to work at all or is it me that isn't working? The sound works when played on teh camcorder, why am I getting images but not sound when I try to download?
