Hello,
I am thinking of buying an XR50X90J TV, but I have a doubt about using it with an old Harman Kardon audio receiver that I have, which is Dolby Digital and DTS, that does not have HDMI.
I would connect it to the digital optical output of the TV.
My question is: being the TV compatible with Dolby ATMOS, what happens if I watch a Netflix movie that has ATMOS audio? Netflix detects that the TV is compatible and sends that format, which cannot be heard on the receiver because it is not compatible?
Is there any difference in behavior if instead of running Netflix on the TV, I do it on the PS5, or if I play a UHD movie on the blueray of the PS5?
Thanks for your help!!
You will just have regular Dolby Digital 5.1 & dts audio out from Optical which are compatibles with your old receiver with Bluray/UHD from PS5 to TV to receiver
From TV apps it depends....some apps only support stereo out from optical
From Playstation app you'll have DD 5.1
If you watch a Netflix movie that support Atmos (or any other similar content), the signal will be downgraded to the max your receiver can support over Optical.
Hope this helps!
