tv wont shutdown keeps turning back on!!!

Hi wonder if anyone can help me out 

Just brought a new sony tv couple days ago. kd55x8509c 1st day tv work great doing everything it should, fully shutting down ect.... Next day and i notice that when i came to fully turn tv off by holding power button to fully shut down the tv. The tv will turn it self back on straight away. I tried factory reset and tried looking on the net for a solution and getting nowhere.. 

Tv is on the latest uk firmware.

Anyone had this before and have a solution.?

If you "HOLD" down the power button for x amount of seconds on your TV remote, you put the TV into software reboot mode, which basically means you are making Android restart itself from scratch, so it will always restart itself after holding the power button down.   Can you not just tap the power button to put the TV into standby mode?
