Well, everytime there's an android android update my TV gets slower...this time however it's lost internet connection and refuses to switch to HDMI input when I switch on my Xbox. I also can't set the devices name as it just won't accept what I choose. It's a KD-55XF8096 and it's getting worse.
Try clearing the cached data (under Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) then restart the TV by holding the power button.
Nope that doesn't help. On powering on my XBox it doesn't switch over to the hdmi input and just hangs in noman's land with a blank screen. All setting are correct and before the update it worked perfectly. Every time there's an update they break something or something slows down.
Have you tried checking the Bravia Sync and the HDMI signal format settings (both are under the external inputs section)?
Yes thats what I meant by all settings are correct. If I'm watching TV and I switch on the XBox then it will switch to the HDMI no problem...albeit slower and sloppier than before the update. But if I do it from a cold start with the TV in standby then it gets stuck in no man's land whereas before it was perfect. Everytime they break something. Will this get fixed of do I have to wait a year for another update?
Hey Eskimosony, I would say try the factory reset: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00170595
I believe this should resolve the issue. Let me know if it helped. Also, which software version do you have? Press the Help button on the remote to get it.
I will try it tomorrow, although I'm pretty sure it wont work, cleaning the Cache should have solved the problem but it didn't. On the other hand Sony do seem to think that this isn't an issue anymore since the last Firmware update so sure I will try thanks. Will report back to whether it fixes it.
Hey, some updates needs the factory reset to settle in, as some settings might be causing the issue or contradicting with the update, keep us updated please.
Hi Guys, well it's settled a bit and I haven't done a factory reset because I didn't want the bother of rearranging all my apps again. The internet connection is stable at least but it still goes through what can only be described as a warming up stage when switched on from standby. It's like a 1950s CRT TV. It's pot luck if it actually switches to XBox and then when it does I get a nasty multicoloured rasta. Its obvious to me that it's highly underpowered and about as responsive as a wet lettuce. Terribly slow to respond to anything, changing channel, volume, apps...and my internet speed is lightening. It needs a quadcore or even octocore processor. Anyway I'm stuck with it for a while whilst I save up for a better one.
I'd really recommend a reset as a last resort before trying for a new TV.
I definitely understand how annoying it can be, but what you've described seems to line up with a possible corrupt setting file (or similar).
Hope this helps!
