Latest January 2021 Android Update

I have just done an update on my KD-55AF9 ( v6.5016)

Now unable to use sound bar HT-ST5000. Tried re-tune, re-set can only use internal speakers.

Once again Sony mess up with their up-dates and make the TV unusable, this is totally unacceptable.

If anybody has a suggestion on how to fix please let me know.

Hi @Bjdr1975,

Have you tried clearing the cached data for the TV (Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) then restarting the TV by holding the power button?

Thanks for the suggestion and when I'm feeling bold enough I might give it try. At the moment the TV seems to be behaving so long I don't use YouView, which has been the cause of previous issues on both this set and an older KD55 9001. In the meantime and for my continued sanity I use other devices to watch the iPlayers on these TV's.

What I can say is that it is a pity Sony have made it so frustrating to use these TV's without any degree of reliability, I'm just waiting for various messages to pop-up or sound issues to arise and when things settle a new update comes along to mess everything up again, hey-ho I guess I'll have to give up with Sony.

I know the feeling.

Do let us know if you try it, clearing the cache essentially deletes all temporary data, which usually improves the performance and is generally risk/headache free since it doesn't reset any settings like a factory reset.

Hope this helps!

Hi

Have tried your suggestion and now have no sound from sound bar speakers and cannot use the TV and sound bar together. This is the previous problem I had when using YouView.

Have tried resets and other hacks but no luck so sound bar is now redundant.

Very poor and disappointing would definitely not recommend Sony.

Some have reported that it's better to disable eARC as a workaround. The issue was reported to Sony by many users where were told it's under investigation.
