Hi all
Recently purchased a HT-G700.
Im trying to use the eARC but no matter what i do i get random audio drop outs with it saying LPCM on the soundbar
sometimes its 3-4 times in 10 minutes, other times its once in an hour.
i have updated the firmware on both devices but still get the problem.
Any ideas

Hi acerimmer2020, I think this is happening because you're using a TV that doesn't support eARC, check the manual page 36 here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/5013/a7331a2ac21272c9e0b1630905e8439c/50130591M...
It tells you that you need a TV that supports eARC.

So basically if you dont have eARC only ARC, then that port is useless, your left with just the optical?
Hi, I would say try changing the audio out to PCM, that might resolve the issue.
so i have now plugged the cable box into the soundbar and set both soundbar and cable box to pcm.
seems to be ok at the moment

So i noticed the g700 is arc compatible not just earc, so why im having to do this i dont know. Thought arc was meant to make life easier.
But anyway it works fine watching tv but is even worse when playing a film from my nas box.
At this point i may aswell just send it back, more trouble than its worth
ok ok, pleb alert, just disable earc on the sound bar😣

so now i have a new issue, tv audio is fine with the sound bar but apps like neflix are having the same issue as before. how is this possible!!!
